Tompkins Square Park is a lasting vestige of New York City's grittier past and is full of secrets. Though this park is known as a gathering place for the East Village community it is also home to a vast and dynamic population of animals who instead of being pushed out, survive and even thrive around us. These are synanthropic animals. The most controversial of all is a small creature who is furry, brown, and loves pizza.
The First to Cross is an immersive audio piece that reveals the intertwined story of humans and rats. It is the third piece of The Synanthrope Preserve, a series of immersive audio experiences that take place throughout New York City.
